I’ve had this machine for about a month now and I am very pleased with my purchase.

It is ideal for two people as it makes just enough coffee for 4 medium sized mugs which I find is just the right amount for me and my wife.

    Plus Points

Simple to use and keep clean

Brews the coffee quickly with no fuss

Keeps the coffee hot in the jug

    Well engineered

    Minus Points

The only minus point I have is that the jug lid only opens 90 degrees so you can’t leave it to drain with the lid open after washing. This isn’t a major problem though as it drains OK with the lid on.

We have tried so many coffee makers as we both love coffee and can’t stand instant brands. Most filter machines leave you with a cool or stewed cup of coffee and soon seem to slow down to an almost steady drip and take an age to brew.

The Kenwood is a compact machine with a large well to pour the water into and because it has a ‘lip’ incorporated in the collar/handle it pours beautifully instead of going everwhere.

The idea of putting your cup on top of the machine, where there is an area specifically for this, means that you start with a warm cup and means that you get a hotter cup of coffee.

It is fast, efficient and easy to use and keep clean, looks solid but modern and delivers the goods. GREAT!

I received this coffee maker as a gift at christmas from my sister. She works in a well known kitchen accessory shop & knows what’s what in the kitchen world. She bought me this because of its looks & its size (space being tight in my kitchen!). I am so happy she chose this model. It makes hot coffee in about 1 – 2 minutes. Almost as quick as waiting for the kettle to boil. It makes me 2 large mugs or cups, that is just the right amout for me & it stays pretty hot for around 1 hour. I also like to warm my cups on the top of it. I think it looks really cool! It’s really easy to clean ae well. I can honestly say I use it every day. I hardly ever use instant coffee anymore.

I would recommend anyone wanting a coffee maker.

I purchase this about 2 weeks ago and I am generally pretty happy with it. It is very simple and straight-forward: put the water in, put the ground coffee in, switch on, switch off – all manual, so few electronic bells & whistles to go wrong. It makes a good cup of coffee and keeps it at a good temperature, BUT it does not make much coffee! It is described as a six cup machine, but the must be pretty small cups. Like a lot of people, I have my coffee in a mug and this machine makes 2.5 mugs of coffee (and I think they are pretty standard sized mugs). I guess this is in line with Kenwood’s advice that coffee should be drunk within 30 minutes of brewing. So, great if you are a singleton or a couple who each want one cup of coffee and no more, not without a re-brew, anyway. I timed mine and it took 4 minutes from power on until the last gurgle when brewing a full “6 cup” put, so it is quick. More pluses – nice, robust metal case (but with plastic interior), well designed pot and drip stop mechanism that actually prevents drips. I find the cup warmer pretty useless, to be honest as it only takes a few minutes to brew a pot and the cup does not have time to get warm in the time it takes to brew. So, nice machine and I like it – just wish the did a 12 cup model for those of us who want a third cup without having to clean and re-brew. Only other downside I can see it that it is made in China (I try to avoid Chinese goods for ethical reasons and I would prefer to know where things are manufactured before buying).

I have tried many, many coffee machines. They have all been flawed to a major degree but I am delighted to tell you that finally, here is a machine that does exactly what I want it to do. It makes just the right amount of coffee, quickly, quietly and consistently. It is also very elegant, stylish and compact. It is the easiest machine ever to fill and after many jugs, I have yet to spill any water! Even the jug itself does not drip or dribble water whatever angle I pour it! Thank you Kenwood. Although it cannot be rocket science, you have produced the first filter machine that I have owned in thirty five years that consistently gives me nothing but pleasure to use.

    The Rating is:
Nice looking stove-top coffee machine by Alessi, renowned for their cool kitchenware, but this product is a let-down.

The smooth body makes it tricky to get a good grip to screw the top and bottom parts together tightly. Even when fully connected, my one still escaped steam from the join. It’s also tricky to open once used and there’s a temptation to use the handle to get a grip, but it’s quite delecate and certain to bend and become damaged.

As previously stated, the lid gets quite hot and the tiny thumb-flip lever gives poor control of the hot lid causing it to flip over and strike the user’s hand. A knob on the lid would have prevented this.

I bought this pot as it is made of 18/10 stainless steel and works on induction hobs. However I have since returned it to Amazon due to the steam escape and plan to but the Bialetti Elegance instead.

This is a beautifully made Italian product that we have used many times and love it.

We have not experienced any of the problems stated below. The handle barely gets warm (we use medium to low heat as recommended). Because the handle is made of metal it won’t wear like plastic or wood.

There is no need to use the thumb lever when pouring, or ever really, so that is not a problem.

We have had a number of espresso makers and this one is the best. It is easy to pour, clean and the quality is unbeatable.

The coffee is wonderful. We just ordered a smaller size of the same design.

Review from Mr. C. E. Dias-Madeira for the A di Alessi Espresso Coffee Maker, 6 Cups (ARS09/6)
    The Rating is:
The coffee produced by this maker is good, definitely better than my last steel stove top. It seems to build up more steam before the coffee peculates through, so hopefully captures more of the coffee essence, and definitely produces hot strong coffee – my last maker let the coffee through too quick and thus it was only just hot enough.

The downside is the design of the handle – as I said plenty of steam is created which comes out of the spout and also the little lid lip for your thumb that is next to the handle. This makes the handle get pretty hot, as it’s metal. Enough steam condenses to actually drip off the handle. Seems a bad design to me! I’m going to keep mine, the coffee is good, but I’ll just have to remember to pick it up with a glove/tea towel.

Review from AfterTheEvent for the A di Alessi Espresso Coffee Maker, 6 Cups (ARS09/6)
    The Rating is:
I have purchased two Richard Sapper 9090 Moka Pots in recent times and have really appreciated the superior quality of manufacture, I was satisfied enough to purchase another Alessi pot for use at work.

It does seem to be a well made item and I haven’t noticed the problems mentioned in previous reviews.

There is no need to screw it together tightly. Just hand tight with a little extra nip is enough. No steam escapes, though a little coffee occasionally dribbles.

The handle isn’t delicate – it’s pressed and folded stainless steel. Although it is securely fastened to the pot, using it for leverage to screw the pot closed is obviously a bad idea, nor does it seem to be necessary. I haven’t noticed the handle heating up uncomfortably either, used on a smallish ring at a medium heat it isn’t a problem.

Unfortunately the handle is a bit to small and is uncomfortable, it may be difficult to grip if you have large hands.

The lid – generally, I leave this open while brewing – it doesn’t seem to get too hot either (If you leave it closed think kettle). The little thumb-tab is rather small but I can’t see it bending in normal use (unless normal use means using pliers).

The coffee issues through a small slot in the side of the center column an arrangement common to Alessi moka-pots. Under certain circumstances the coffee will gush out of this slot with enough force to spray over the side of the pot, a bit startling, and possibly dangerous! Keep an eye on it while your making coffee and turn the heat down once the coffee begins to run.

On the whole I like this pot it’s well made, good looking and makes good coffee. It does require a little common sense and caution. Take note too that Alessi spare parts aren’t always easy to find.
